Jack Burke's Page

Hi, I'd like to welcome you to Sound Marketing's Website and my personal page. In this fast-moving age of electronic media and high technology, I firmly believe that we need the human element--in fact, a lot of it! As John Naisbitt said years ago, "High tech, high touch". If you're looking for a more traditional "bio" sheet, click here.
My wife Jo Ann and I founded Sound Marketing in 1984, continuing to work together on a daily basis. She makes sure that the productions become reality, the office runs smoothly and my "ego" remains in check. Together we have four lovely daughters: Elizabeth, Melissa, Virginia, and Tara/
Elizabeth (we still call her Betsy) and her husband Marc live in St. Paul, Minnesota and have graced us with two wonderful grandaughters, Kethry and Fiona:

Kethry is the oldest of our grandchildren and has enherited her mother's acumen for music.

Fiona (pronounced Fee-nah) loves to dress up for a party.

Here's my Halloween "Pumkin" Taylor, courtesy of Jo Ann's daughter Tara and her husband Rob.

One of my other pleasures in life is working with older cars. A recent restoration was this 1967 Thunderbird. Unfortunately, in late 1998 I was rear-ended at a stop light by a Dodge van travelling at 40 mph. Luckily, no one was hurt--but the car was a total loss.

The day before the accident, I had purchased another project car - a 1969 Mercury Marquis convertible with a 429 V-8 engine. Over a three month time period, the "Merc" was turned into a racy looking throwback to the days of big cars and big engines. Aside from new paint and top, I installed a real wood dash of curly walnut with a new stereo system; beefed up the 429 block with a high-performance Edelbrock manifold and 650 cfm Holley four-barrel; and installed a custom designed dual exhaust system with Flo-through mufflers for that old-fashioned "glasspack" sound.

And my newest project underway is a 1966 Ford Mustang Coupe. This 6 cylinder had been sitting in storage for 13 years when I found it. At present the mechanical work has been completed and the body restoration begun. This is pretty much a "ground-up" restoration. Everything has been removed down to the unitized body and will be restored piece by piece, painted and reassembled. I'm about two years into it now and expect another 2 years before completion.
